The Uhaina surf school is based in Anglet, in the Basque Country, on Les Corsaires beach. Created in 2003 by Iban ITHURBIDE, a surfing and board sports enthusiast, the school is open from March to December and offers everyone, whether they are complete beginners, have some experience or are looking for further training, surf lessons or courses supervised by qualified coaches.

– Meet the Uhaina Dream Team –
Iban Ithurbide
Passionate surfer for over 40 years on the beaches of Anglet and former competitor, Iban founded the surf school 20 years ago on Les Corsaires beach. A huge traveler, he went 3 times around the world seeking the most beautiful waves. His favorite destination: the MentwaĂŻ islands in Indonesia where he surfed his most beautiful barrels.

RĂ©mi MOURIAUD
The veteran of the team with 13 years spent transmitting his passion of the surfing to you. RĂ©mi is a tube specialist and loves powerful and hollow waves. When he’s not in surf class, he likes to travel and his favorite spot is Mexico. He leaves the waves of Anglet during the mushroom season and spends his time in the forest to fill his fridge with kilos of ceps.

Thomas Filippin
A very good local surfer since he was young, Thomas has been frequenting the beaches of the Basque Country in search of the best waves (which are most of the time in Anglet). He is the definition of coolness and his nickname at the surf school is “Zen Master”. His calmness and patience are much appreciated by our students and make his surf lessons unforgettable.

Diego Torre
New kid on the team, Diego is a very good local surfer from Anglet and former competitor. His specialty is big wave surfing, he is very familiar with the spots of GuĂ©thary or La Nord, he pushes his limits every winter. At only 16 years old, he had already surfed at NazarĂ©, what a charger! But don’t worry, he won’t take you to the big waves during your surf lessons.

Ana Boutin
5 years already that Ana is here to receive you and to organize your surf lessons. Always cool, zen and ready to do anything to satisfy you. She is an Architecture student and her dream is to move to Portugal.

Otxanda Louboutin
Local surfer and Ana’s partner in crime, Oxtanda welcomes you with a big smile and is always ready to share her good mood with you. She is the most motivated to go surfing and knows the Corsaires spot like anybody else. Future instructor of the surf school, she dreams of traveling and founding her own school.
Marco Laurens
Marco is the great sportsman of the group. French champion of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, he discovered surfing relatively late at the age of 20. His determination and hard work allowed him to become a very good surfer and to teach his passion today at the surf school. He also loves to travel and has surfed his best waves in Costa Rica.
